Artificial ski resort

What about skiing in the desert?

Have you ever heard of artificial ski resorts? Maybe you have already been on one of them...
It can be surprising but for fans of unusual places it is now possible to ski in the desert with an external temperature of 40°C, thanks to the covered ski resort of Dubaï!Located admidst the United Arab Emirates, in the Persian Gulf, this ski resort is unique in the world; it is the biggest artificial ski resort ever known.
In order to avoid the snow melting, the internal temperature is -1°C.
This ski resort is composed of 5 dry ski slopes of 400m of downhill with a 60m gradient. There is a chair lift, a ski slope and four treadmills. Every night, snow cannons bring in 30 tons of powder snow.

It is like in the mountains...A bumps wall and bobsleigh trail are available and there is also a 3000m² snow park for children who want to play in the snow and make snowmen. There is even a mountain restaurant called St-Moritz which looks like a chalet and where people can drink mulled wine.

However, other details betray the “winter sport” effect... The ski resort's hotel rooms have a view of the slopes on one side, and the sea on the other.

Dubaï doesn't stop there, this town always wants to create more and more grandiose things and plans to build an artificial mountain chain for skiers.

What about you, what do you think about these kinds of ski resorts?

  3. No, it is not so expensive because the ski-pass for 2 hours costs 35€ and all the equipment is provided. (ski, snowsuit, socks...)
You have access to 400 meters of snowy slopes, an ice cave, treadmills and ski lifts. The resort opening hours are relatively large, from 9am to 10:30 pm.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask us, you are welcome !
